David Michael Parker, 51, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at his home in rural Mingo. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at Greencastle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the David Parker Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

David was born to Robert and Mary Alice (Gannon) Parker May 17, 1963, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He grew up on the family farm outside of Mingo, graduating from Mingo High School in 1981.

Over the years, David worked in various construction trades, and mastered most all of them. His latest occupation was a farmer, working with his uncle Bill Gannon, on the Gannon family farm outside Mingo.

David enjoyed golfing, playing cards, shooting pool and socializing with his numerous friends at the Greencastle Tavern.

David is survived by sisters Helen Jones, Jean Parker (Maggie O’Dea), Susan Manning (Jerry), Mary Jo Parker; brother Edward Parker (Kathleen); nieces and nephews, David Jones, Darcy (Jones) Schoenherr, Chris Manning, Patricia (Manning) Puente, Connor, Brennan and Kevin Parker; also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving is his loving companion Jess Bollenbaugh. He was preceded in death by his father Robert; mother Mary Alice; and nephew Jonathan “Jake” Manning. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 20 Jan 2015.
