Samantha “Sam” Jo Raper, comedienne, music enthusiast, and over all rock star, peaced out on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.

Sam burst into the world on Valentine’s Day of 1989. Sam loved to rock out at concerts, eat candy, and hang out with those she loved.

She was known for her rockin’ style, not one to be missed in her large Jackie O sunglasses, hobo handbag and Chuck Taylors. As an animal lover, Sam had two great dog loves, Gracie and Gizzy.

Sam was creative, quirky and vivacious. She was known to use duct tape, sharpies, and other household staples to create art projects.

Sam loved to sit and listen to music with her Dad on the back deck overlooking the wild prairie preserve. On weekends, Sam could be found playing with her beautiful son, Connor James. Together they loved to feed apples to the horses and read Shel Silverstein.

Sam left behind a loving and equally quirky family including, son Connor James; parents Don and Kristin Raper, and Carol Wearmouth; and sisters Wendy Van Dyke, Sarah and Ashley Raper and Elizabeth “Lizy” Raper.

The family welcomes all those who knew her to a celebration of her life from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at the home of Becky Mayfield, 925 W. Ninth St. S. in Newton. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 21 Jan 2015
