Charles Larry Running, 66, of Newton died on Monday, November 24, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, November 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Careage of Newton Nursing Home may be left at the funeral home.

Larry, the son of Russell and Shirley (Humes) Running, was born on May 10, 1948 in Cherry Hills, New Jersey. He had lived in many places throughout the country, moving to Iowa many years ago. He had worked in Advertisement Sales, as an EMT, and as a HVAC Technician.

Larry was united in marriage with Cynthia Swalla on December 10, 2003 in Nevada, Iowa. They moved to Newton in April of 2014 and he was working at Careage of Newton and Theisen’s. Larry loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also liked to do wood carving and was a great Papa.

Larry is survived by his wife, Cindy Running of Newton; children, Natalie, Christina, and Matthew; step-children, Jason, Justin, Vanessa, and Mandy; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Running; two sisters; and one brother.
