Robert Wayne Myers was born on November 23, 1938 in Colo, Iowa and passed away on November 18, 2014. Visitation will be held at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, Iowa on November 20, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm with family present from 6pm to 8pm. A private family service and burial at Dunreath Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Monroe Fire and Rescue in Monroe, Iowa or Jasper County Animal Rescue League in Newton, Iowa. Robert (Bob) Wayne Myers was born on November 23, 1938 on a farm in Colo, Iowa. His parents were Roy Myers and Gertie Myers. They moved west of Monroe in 1940 when he was about 2 years old. Bob attended a country school until 4th grade when the school burned down. He continued his education in Monroe graduating in 1957. On June 14, 1958, Bob married Jean (Sly Cord) from Pella, Iowa. They had 2 children, Tim and Sandi. Bob worked briefly for Maytag in Newton. He then farmed with his father until 1961 when Bob took over the family farm after his father passed away. In 1992, he had a setback due to a tractor accident which limited his vision along with multiple other injuries. In 1995, Bob and Jean built a new home south east of the original homestead where he spent the remaining years of his life. Bob was a dog lover owning several dogs over the years, Clyde, Sassy, and Blue. The last 2 dogs came from the Animal Rescue League in Knoxville and Newton.

Bob leaves his wife of over 56 years, Jean, son Tim and wife Jacque, their children Zach and Paige, daughter Sandi and husband Richard, their children Shane, Emily and Andrew and great granddaughter Braelyn along with several other nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cousin and best buddy from childhood, Dick Myers. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and 3 brothers, William, Lee and Kenneth. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 18 Nov 2014.
