John Taylor Died Last Night After Long Illness
Funeral To Be SundayJohn W. Taylor died last evening at 9:45 at his home on the College grounds after a long illness. He had been sick since last January and the infirmities of old age made it impossible for him to recover. He is past 85 years old and leaves besides his sorrowing wife, three sons and three daughters, Clinton, of Lake Arthur, New Mexico, John W., of Pleasantville, Iowa; C. W., of Des Moines; Mrs. E. W. Barnes of Des Moines; Mrs. C. H. Redding of Newton and Mrs. J. Brokaw of Newton. All the children are at home now but two sons and it is expected that they will all be home for the funeral except for perhaps Clinton, who lives in New Mexico.
Mr. Taylor had been a resident of Newton since 1901 when he moved here from his farm near Monroe.
The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the home. ~ The Newton Daily News, Friday evening, July 23, 1913, page 1.
