Edmund W. Otto
Edmund “Bill” William Otto was born May 14, 1931, in Alta, Iowa, the son of Edmund and Clara (Dreyer) Otto. He was raised and educated in the area and graduating from Calumet High School.
On September 18, 1952, Bill married LaVonne Miller in Rodman, Iowa and the couple had three children: Steven, Judy and dean. They later divorced. Bill married Lois (Hirsch) Trausch on August 27, 1983, in Webster City.
Bill also lived in Prairie City, Renwick and the last 30 years in Eagle Grove. Bill had a lifetime passion and took great pride in being a truck driver, working for Umthun Trucking and ADS of Eagle rove and CMP of Humboldt.
He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and had been a member of various Lutheran churches. He also participated in bowling league and enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards.
Bill passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his children: Steven Otto and wife Regina of Centerville, Judy Oberhelman and husband Ron of Renwick and Dean Otto and wife Teresa of Humboldt; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Joanna Johnson of Marcus, half-brother, Jerry Otto of Alexander, MN; half-sister, Dian Otto of Slayton, MN; step-mother, Dorothy Otto of Slayton, MN; wife, Lois Otto of Eagle Grove, her family of four step-children; eight step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, August 24 at First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia. ~ The Prairie City News, Prairie City, Iowa 1 Sept 2011.
