LAUREL - Funeral services for Merle E. Paul, lifetime resident of the Laurel community, who died at his home Friday (Dec 23, 1965) were held at the Laurel Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Scott Hall, pastor of the church in charge. Rev Nelson Murdock of Oskaloosa offered a prayer. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery west of Laurel. Arrangements were by Estel-Perrin Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mrs. John Halbloom was organist and Mrs. William Campbell was soloist. Pallbearers were Wendell, Steven, Bryan, Dale and Verle Benskin and Marvin McMahon. Committal services were conducted by Cyrus Lodge No. 338, AF & AM, who attended the services in a group. ~ The Newton Daily News, January 4, 1966
