Ellen Marie Esbeck was born on March 26, 1946 to her proud parents Elmer and Sylvia Esbeck in Carroll, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. She grew up in the Kimballton and Elk Horn, Iowa area attending local schools and graduated from the Elk Horn-Kimballton High School in 1964. Her work experience included the Glenwood State Children’s School Glenwood, Iowa, and Pastry Chef at the Danish Bakery in Elk Horn, Iowa, and Librarian for 16-years at the Mingo Public Library in Mingo, IA.
Ellen was united in Marriage to Darold Timm on February 27, 1988 in Casey, Iowa. Her hobbies included being a devoted Chicago Cubs baseball fan, tending her beautiful flower gardens, member of The Bloomers Garden Club of Mingo, member of The Book Club of Mingo, also baking and cooking, spending time with family and friends sharing her love for them.
Ellen was very proud of her Danish Heritage and continued on with the family tradition handed down to her with baking of delicious and delightful Danish Pastries along with authentic Danish meal dishes as she was also a wonderful cook. She would make dozens of Danish pastries for family and friends and was in demand for her specialties at Christmas and mailed many to out-of-state locations. She loved her family, friends and was especially proud of her sons and grandchildren.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, step-father Svend Andersen, step-sister Jeanne Andersen, step-sister Jerolyn Kite, father in-law Glen Timm, and brother in-law Gerald Timm.
Ellen is survived by her husband Darold Timm, son David (Veronica) Andersen of Ankeny, IA, son Michael Timm of Iowa City, IA, brother James (Judith) Esbeck of Tucson, AZ , step-sister Ileen (Ed) Furne of Atlantic, IA, step-brother Ivan (Lavon) Andersen of Elk Horn, IA, mother in-law Esther Timm Of Tama, IA, grandchildren Angelique, Owen, Isabella Andersen, step-sons Bradley, Jeffrey, Jared Timm, step-daughter Jennifer Flatte, sister in-law Sandra Chandonia, sister in-law Kathy (Gerald) Timm, all of Iowa, nephews and nieces, along with many step-grandchildren and many step-nephews and nieces. Ellen will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.
The family thanks the Skiff Hospice of Newton, Iowa for their excellent care of Ellen in her home.
