Lawrence "Larry" Stoddard, 69, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

Larry was born November 7, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lawrence and Thelma Stoddard. He was an independent man who obtained his lifelong goal of running his own business.

He was in the storage and salvage re-sale business before it gained popularity from recent television programs. Larry enjoyed working on classic cars, hot rods and trucks. He loved fast cars and auto racing.

Larry is survived by his significant other of 27 years, Sheryl Peek; sons, Larry of Corona, CA and Garry of Newton, IA; step-children, Bobbie Jo Peek of Des Moines, Christine Peek-Vrban of Florida, and Joseph Peek of Des Moines; brother, Garry of Waterloo; first wife, Marilyn Bennett of Sweetwater, TN; 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Graceland Memorial Cemetery in Cameron, MO.
