Carl D. Massengale, age 77, of Lincoln, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln. He was born on May 23, 1936 in Wayne County, Kentucky, the son of Menifee and Flonnie Massengale.

He grew up in Grinnell, Iowa, enlisted in the United States Army in 1954, where he served during the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in 1958. After his service he moved to Phoenix, Arizona then in 1981 he moved to Otterville, Missouri.

On February 25, 1999 he was united in marriage to Opal Pedego and they made their home in Lincoln.

He was a member of the Lincoln Church of Christ.

He was employed as a truck driver for many years and later as an auto mechanic where he worked at Hayes Wheels in Sedalia, Missouri from 1981 until his retirement in 1999.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Kenneth, Ray, Floyd, Jerry, Rex and Jim.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Massengale, of the home, 5 children; Doug Massengale, of Louisiana, Carla Williams, of Sedalia, Sandy Utterback, and her husband, Mark, of Monroe City, Mary Roberts, of Oklahoma and Ronnie Massengale, of Kansas, 5 siblings; Anna Salyers and her husband Carol, of Newton, Iowa, Alta McNaul, and her husband Harry of Grinnell, Iowa, Larry Massengale and his wife, Pat, of Montezuma, Iowa, David Massengale, and his wife Madalin, of Newton, Iowa, Alma Massengale of Montezuma, Iowa, 9 stepchildren; Ann Vaughn, Glenva Briggs, and her husband, Bruce, Kathy Bybee, William Clancy, and his wife, Connie, Joe Clancy, and his wife, Holly, Steve Clancy, Michael Bivens, Candy Rotramel and Ross Spears, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 23 step grandchildren and 28 step great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Missouri, with Rev. Charles Rose officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm, Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be; Doug Massengale, Jerry Massengale, Jason Utterback, Joe Clancy, Bill Clancy and Steve Clancy, Honorary Pallbearers will be; David Blagden, Billy Roberts, Danny Roberts, Tommy Plogger and Bruce Briggs. ~ The Des Moines Register Legacy, Des Moines, Iowa.
