STENA IRWIN DIES ON SEPT. 24

Stena L. Irwin, 91, of 910 S. Fifth Ave. E., Newton, died Thursday, Sept. 24, at Friendship Manor.

No services will be conducted. Following cremation her ashes will be buried in Our Silent City Cemetery at Kellogg. Memorials may be made to the Kellogg Historical Society or the Sheridan Methodist Church and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell.

She was the daughter of James and Thomina Anderson and was born on Oct. 2, 1895, in Kellogg. She was a graduate of Kellogg High School and later taught in rural schools.

On Aug. 19, 1926, She was married to William Irwin. The couple farmed west of Newburg. Mrs. Irwin moved to Newton following her husband's death in 1945.

She is survived by one daughter, Ellen Jantzen of rural Grinnell; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bertha Stecher of Kellogg and Martha Baldwin of Newton.
