Karroll Jon Diggins, 60, of Newton, formerly of Marshalltown, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 9, at the home of his daughter, Andrea (Kyle) Lovan, 1874 E. 60th St. N., Newton. Wallace Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Karroll Jon Diggins, 60, of Newton, formerly of Marshalltown, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 P.M., Sunday, March 9, at his daughter’s home, 1874 E. 60th St N., Newton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jon’s name may be left at the celebration or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Jon, the son of Karroll and Gayle (Baker) Diggins, was born on November 27, 1953 in Marshalltown. He grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1973. Jon worked as a machine operator at Bruin Manufacturing. He enjoyed golfing, shooting guns, watching sports on TV, and mostly spending time with his grandchildren. Jon is survived by his wife, Linda Diggins of Newton; two daughters, Heather (Bill) Simpson of Albion and Andrea (Kyle) Lovan of Newton; son, Joel Bulanek of Marshalltown; five grandchildren, Braydon Bulanek, Connor Bulanek, Taryn Lovan, Megan Lovan, and Molly Lovan; his siblings, Don Diggins of South Carolina, Joyce (Dick) Findorff of Minnesota, and Lynnette (Terry) Miller of Texas; aunts, Jean Eige and Marjorie Diggins, both of Marshalltown; and his brother-in-laws, Armand Vanore (Virginia) of Florida and Gordon Brown of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Patricia Vanore, Janyce Brown, and Lynda Taylor.
