Funeral services for Thelma Salmon, 94, of 500 1st St. N., will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Newton with the Rev. Frederick Kramer, retired pastor of St. Stephens, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home in Newton after 2 p.m. today and until 11:30 a.m. Thursday where the body will lie in state. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. The casket will be not opened at the church. Memorials to St. Stephens Episcopal Church will be accepted.

She died of respiratory failure Friday, Dec. 24, at Park Centre Nursing Home in Newton.

Born Jan. 26, 1905, in Montezuma, she was a longtime resident of Newton. She and her husband, Floyd Salmon, owned Salmon Paint Store in Newton from 1936 to 1964. Mrs. Salmon was a member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Newton, Eastern Star, Tri-T Society and Newton Business and Professional Women.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Joanne of Urbandale; a son-in-law, Charles Adams of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter and a grandson. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines (IA) Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
