William E. Garr

Baxter, IA. – William E. Garr, 55, of rural Baxter died of a heart attack Sunday on Highway 92 east of Rose Hill. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home, and burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mr. Garr, a farmer, was born in Exline and lived in Jasper County most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; a son, Loren of Baxter; five daughters, Debra Garr of Newton and Pam O’Brien, Lois Garr, Karen Garr and Laura Garr, all of Baxter; two brothers, Martin of Promise City and Junior of Newton; three sisters, Alta Mitchell of Grinnell, Lilly Halterman of Newton and Virginia Wilcox of Cost Mesa, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
