Garneta Caldwell Dies Wednesday; Services Friday

PRAIRIE CITY – Mrs. Walter D. (Harriet Garneta) Caldwell died Wednesday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Prairie City Christian Church.

The Rev. Alexander Haines, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions to the Jasper County Association for Retarted (sic) Citizens will be accepted. They may be left at funeral home in Prairie City.

Survivors are two sons, Walter of Keokuk and Max of Chariton and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother.

Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the Eastern Star and the TTT.

The daughter of Elmer and Minnie Foster Whiting, she was born April 21, 1897 at Arlington Heights, Ill., and was graduated from a Des Moines high school.

She was married May 24, 1924 at Nevada. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Thursday, January 19, 1978
