Former Resident Dies Wednesday

Elmer T. Korf of Ames, a former resident of Newton, died Wednesday morning at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Burial will be in Red Oak.

Among survivors are a niece, Mrs. Robert Tennant of Englewood, Colo., a nephew, Robert S. Korf of San Bernardino, Calif.; and three cousins, Hugo Schulz, Clarence W. Griebeling and Mrs. Edward Holland, all of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jan. 1, 1956.

Mr. Korf, a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, had been an engineer for the city of Salt Lake City, Utah, and a manager of the Jasper County Telephone Co. before moving to Ames in 1928 where he was an engineer in the construction department of the Iowa State Highway Commission until retiring in 1954.

The son of Henry and Wilhelmina Weseman Korf, he was born April 8, 1844, in Malaka Township in Jasper County, attended Highland Park College in Des Moines and received a civil engineering degree from Iowa State University in Ames in 1910.

He was married to Frances David April 14, 1920 at Red Oak. ~ Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Thursday, January 5, 1978.
