Charles E. Belt, 82, of 3202 S. 12th St. Marshalltown, died Thursday, Dec 8th, in Kingsville, Texas.

Services were held recently at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerald Swanberg of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, State Center.

He was born November 23, 1912, at Baxter to James W. and Ludah A. Thomas Belt. He graduated from LaMoille High School. He married Viola Kutzner on Aug. 3, 1934, in Marshalltown. He was an assistant at Jim Mathers Plumbing, State Center, before beginning work for Fisher Controls in 1942, and retired in 1978. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and International order of Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his wife, Viola; a son, Robert of Kingsville; a daughter, bonnie Johnson of Bloomington, Mn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Wilkening of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. ~ Newspaper unnamed but possibly The Des Moines Register or Newton (IA) Daily News.
