Crystal J. Bond, of Park Centre Health Care, died of respiratory failure, Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the care facility.

Memorial services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Michael Kerry, associate pastor, officiating. The body will be cremated. Burial of the cremains will be at newton Union Cemetery.

The Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. There will be no visitation. Memorials to First United Methodist Church or Park Centre Good Samaritan Fund will be accepted.

The daughter of Clifford and Ida Bobzin Jacobs, she was born May 26, 1903, in rural Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1921 and married Karl S. Bond Oct. 15, 1927, in Newton.

A longtime resident of Jasper County, she lived in Reasnor and Shenandoah before returning to Newton in 1978. Mrs. Bond was employed as a secretary for the Newton Community School District. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Jasper County Historical Society and the Lady Elks and various bridge clubs.

Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beulah McReynolds of Des Moines and Helen and Everett Shives of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant sister. ~ Newspaper unnamed but possibly The Des Moines Register or Newton (IA) Daily News.
