Jerry E. Allspach, 65, of Newton died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Jerry E. Allspach, 65, of Newton died on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 28, at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. The family will greet friends from 5-7 P.M., Monday, January 27, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Jerry‘s name may be left at the funeral home or the church the morning of the service.

Jerry, the son of Marvin and Thelma (Reynolds) Allspach, was born on December 20, 1948 in Newton. He was united in marriage with Mary Ann Bruce on November 9, 1968. They were blessed with three daughters: Tina, Sue, and Shari. Jerry worked for the Maytag Company for over 31 years, retiring in 1998.

He attended Cornerstone Bible Fellowship and Cowboy Church and was a member of the Local UAW 997. Jerry enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, hunting, trapping, and cutting wood. He was a bible scholar and witness and loved his church families. Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.

Those left to honor Jerry’s memory are his wife, Mary Ann Allspach of Newton; three daughters, Tina (Dan) Brown of Newton, Sue Allspach of Des Moines, and Shari (Matt) Froah of Newton; his grandchildren, Mckinley Brown, Brendan Brown, and Kieran Brown, Lydia Elwell, Jaryn Froah, Japheth Froah, Jocelynn Froah, and Jesseca Froah; siblings, Gary (Harriett) Allspach of Newton, Stanley (Pat) Allspach of Melrose, Henry (Mary Ann) Allspach of Melrose, and Anita Layer and Newton; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
