Timothy Seckar, 65, of Newton died on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at his home.

A private family service will be held.

Timothy Richard Seckar, 65, of Newton died on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 3:29 P.M. The son of Joseph and Deloras (Barrett) Seckar, Tim was born June 15, 1948 in Osage, Iowa. He grew up a river rat in Mitchell, Iowa. He then moved to Newton, Iowa where he and Deb raised their family.

Tim was an over the road truck driver for 34 years, the last 15 years as an owner operator. Tim was a Vietnam War Marine veteran. He enjoyed spending time with family, working on his semi and riding motorcycle. Tim enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren who softened and warmed his heart. Tim is survived by his wife, Deb Seckar; five children, Timothy “Timmy” Seckar, Jr. of Princeton, North Carolina, Tammy Seckar of Princeton, North Carolina, Travis (Shelby) Healey of Kellogg, Iowa, Richard “Rick” (Jenn) Healey of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Crystal Seckar of Newton; his nine grandchildren, Brooke, Ronald, Chase, Dakota, Melanie, Kyle, Harley, Wyatt, and Mikalah; four sisters, Lil (Glenn) Abelson, Doloras DeMaray, Ann Johnston, and Lisa (Steve) Colby; his one brother, Philip (Diane) Seckar; and several other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Seckar and Deloras Barrett; sister, Kathy Seckar; and best friend and cousin, Patrick Barrett.
