Ola F. Horney, 90, of Newton died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Park Centre Care Center in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association — Greater Iowa Chapter or Wesley Life Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

Those left to honor Ola’s memory are her sons, David Horney and Rickie (Chris) Horney, both of Marshalltown; daughters, Vickie (Phillip) Grommet of Marshalltown and Violet (Gary) Peterson of Newton; her four grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and a sister, Alberta Lees. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Ola F. Horney, 90, of Newton died on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Park Centre Care Center in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Iowa Chapter or Wesley Life Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

Ola, the daughter of Noah and Ida (Scott) Nance, was born on June 15, 1923 in Dallas County. She was united in marriage with Charles Horney on November 25, 1947 in Adel. They moved to Newton in 1965. Ola was a homemaker. She was a past member of the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Ola enjoyed sewing, quilting, and her rose bushes. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. Those left to honor Ola’s memory are her sons, David Horney and Rickie (Chris) Horney, both of Marshalltown; daughters, Vickie (Phillip) Grommet of Marshalltown and Violet (Gary) Peterson of Newton; her 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; and a sister, Alberta Lees. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 2011; daughter-in-law, Barbara Horney; two sisters, Pearl Wilson and Velma House; two brothers, Herschel and Leonard Nance; and a brother, Charlie, in infancy.
