Marie Brandhof, 81, of the Prairie City, Mitchellville area, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.

A funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.

February 26, 1932 - October 25, 2013

Marie Brandhof, age 81 of the Prairie City, Mitchellville area, died Friday, October 25, 2013, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Memorials may be directed to Prairie City Christian Reformed Church or Trinity Center at Luther Park. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Cornelius and Durkie (Rolffs) Van Soelen, Marie was born on February 26, 1932, in Jasper County near Killduff, Iowa. On December 21, 1954, she was united in marriage to William D. "Bill" Brandhof in Sully, Iowa. Marie was a homemaker and helped Bill on the farm. She was a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.

Those left to honor her memory are three daughters, Marilyn Kay Brandhof (Craig Stiffler) of Cave Creek, Arizona; Sharon Elaine (Michael) King of Des Moines; and Betty Lou (Larry) Hessing of Altoona. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Matthew Ryan McMullin, Megan Elizabeth (Ben) Willet, Mikaela Ashley King (Andrew Moore), Melissa Ann King and Jeffrey Thomas Hadden, as well as two great grandchildren; sister: Joanne (Marvin) Sjaardema of Denver, Colorado; brothers: Ralph (Bernice) Van Soelen of Newton, Iowa; Donald (Pat) Van Soelen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brothers-in-law, John Hoebeke and Bernard Arkema; sisters-in-law: Henrietta Van Soelen of Denver, Colorado; Millie Van Soelen of Sully, Iowa; and Leona Brandhof of Pleasant Hill. Preceding Marie in death were her parents; husband, William Brandhof; brothers: Peter, Henry, and Clarence Van Soelen; sisters: Dorothy Arkema, Christina Hoebeke, and Cornelia Arkema; in-laws: Edward Brandhof and Nelson Arkema. ~ The Coburn Family Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa.
