Those left to honor Robert's memory are his children, Gerry (Phyllis) McGowen of Omaha, Nebraska, Linda (Tom) Panci of Lausanne, Switzerland, and Bob (Becci) McGowen of Waukee; grandson, Zac McGowen (Jennifer Blair) of Omaha, Nebraska; and his great-granddaughter, Mia McGowen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mable in 2008; brother Wayne McGowen; and sister, Bea Rhodes.

Robert served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II.

Robert worked for the Maytag Company for 30 years. When he retired he was a Foreman of the Porcelain Department.

Robert was a member of the Metz Community Church. He enjoyed baseball; coaching his two son’s teams as they grew up. He played on the church softball team until the age of 79. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, and board games.
