Walt Chandler, 72, of Urbandale passed away May 2, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center from injuries following a car accident.

Walt was born Oct. 26, 1940, and drove for Rock Island Trucking, Yellow Frieght Lines and Hawkeye Wood-Shaving, retiring from there. Walt belonged to Teamsters.

He is survived by his sons, Jeff and Stacy Chandler of Des Moines, Val Chandler of Davis, Ill., Randy Chandler of Des Moines; his son-in-law, Robert Flisher of Des Moines; a brother, Jerry Chandler of Newton; a sister Barb Lemonds of Davenport; his grandchildren, Crystal Flisher of Des Moines, Ethan Chandler of Davis, Ill., Aylinn and Delyn Chandler of Des Moines and great-grandson Devin Bentley of Des Moines. He was preceeded in death by his parents and daughter, Christian (Sissy) Flisher of Des Moines. Per Walt’s request, there will be no services. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.
