Marguerite (Bral) Henning-Donahue, 80, of Newton died on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at her home.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 30, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the funeral home.
Memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society may be left at the funeral home. Memorials also may be mailed to the funeral home; please add Attn: Henning-Donahue family on the envelope. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.

11:00amMarguerite, the daughter of Gustav and Marie Louise (Laroy) Bral, was born on Wednesday, July 20, 1932 in Grinnell, Iowa. She lived and was educated in Jasper County, Iowa. After graduating from Newton High School, she married William A. Henning, Sr. in November of 1949; to this union nine children were born. Later, she was married to Jimmie E. Donahue in November of 1974.
Marguerite held many jobs before becoming an employee of the Veteran’s Administration in May of 1967, working in the food service department in Des Moines, Iowa and then transferred to Leavenworth, Kansas in November of 1973. After more than 25 years, she retired from the V.A. and returned to Newton in 1992. Marguerite then worked for the Newton Daily News for five year until her final retirement in 1998. Marguerite’s many hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, sewing, and various arts and crafts. Every August for 26 years, she and Jim and their family pets enjoyed camping at the Iowa State Fair.
Those left to honor Marguerite’s memory are her children, Diana (Randy) Wagner, Cathy McDaniel, William Henning, Jr., Pamela (Steve) Busick, Marita (Albert) Jackson, Bruce Henning, Mary Ann Hawkins, Michelle (Tyrone) Heslep, and Patricia (Chris) Drews; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Marie Bral; her husband, Jim Donahue; and a grandson, Bryce Alan Wagner.
