Passing of a Pioneer Woman – Lived over 62 years in this Vicinity
After a lingering illness, “grandma” Collins passed peacefully away at 6 a.m. Sunday morning, Dec. 22, 1907. Her illness had been long and at times great, but she _____ complaining ___ resignation.

Elizabeth Williams was born in Morgan County, Indiana, Jan. 17, 1832, hence was 75 years, 11 months and 5 days old at time of death.

At the age of 13, in the fall of 1845, her parents moved to Iowa, and settled in Marion county. She was married to N. H. Collins, June 19, 1849. To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls.

The oldest daughter died in March 1901, the surviving children, who with the husband, remain to mourn her loss are:
N. P. Collins, Mitchell, Nebraska; Clell Collins, Pleasantville, Iowa; Mrs. Jesse Honnold, Monroe, Iowa.

Besides there are 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Grandma Collins was a quiet home-loving woman, and was devoted to the interests of husband and children. She will be very much missed in the home life.

During the last year Mr. and Mrs. Collins have made their home with her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Honnold, where in their enfeebled condition they have been well taken care of.

The funeral service was held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Jesse Honnold home, Rev. J. C. Pike conducted the same.

The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rinehart, Miss Clara Rinehart and Mrs. W. H. Hetherington and the hymns sung were deceased’s own selection. “We are to grow old together”, “My Saviour First of All”, “Lead, Kindly Light”, and “Will there be any Stars in my Crown”.

The pall-bearers were also her selection and were: Wm. Coffey, Chas. Worth, Jacob Koder, W. T. Wolcott, John Kingery, Harrison Carter.
Those present from abroad at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Clel Collins, Pleasantville, John Hughes and mother of Percy, Mrs. Histed, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dearth, Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Will Honnold, and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Vriezelaar, of Otley, Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Bolte, Prairie City.
The family of the deceased desire to thank the many friends and neighbors for their kind assistance and sympathy rendered.
