Betty Carol Brockman, 61, of Newton, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at her home in Newton.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with a service at 7 p.m.. Memorials are being designated in Betty's name, and may be left at the funeral home.
Betty, the daughter of Earl and Laura Ruth (Elam) Burns, was born March 26, 1952, near Unionville, MO. At age 5, she moved with her family to Prairie City, IA. She was a graduate of the Prairie City Senior High, Class of 1971. She had also lived in Monroe and Des Moines.On July 15, 1994, Betty was united in marriage with Donald Brockman in Des Moines. A longtime resident of the Newton area, she was a Licensed Child Day Care Provider. She also worked as a C.N.A., as a secretary, a cashier, and currently in housekeeping at Park Centre. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and enjoyed being around people. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed reading, cooking, crafts, decorating, hosting party's and had a great interests in Indians Heritage. She was a caregiver for many family members or anyone who needed assistance of any kind.
Those left to honor Betty's memory include her husband of 19 years Donald; her daughters: Tammy Aalbers and Suzie (Steve) Aalbers; her son Dustin (Erin) Aalbers, all of Newton; her step children: Selina Brockman and Robert Brockman, both of Des Moines; her twelve grandchildren: Elizabeth, Katie, Mara, Brittany, Ryan, Matt, Karlee, Gavin, Parker, Hannah, Lillie and Kory; her four brothers: Richard, Fred, Chuck and Mark Burns and her many friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Bill Hopkins; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home Website, Newton, Iowa.
