The remains of Mrs. Ada Phiffer Lester, wife of Charley Lester, formerly of Monroe, but of late years of Manitou, Colorado, was brought here Saturday afternoon for interment. The body was taken to the residence of Joseph Barton, old time friends. The funeral was from the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Rev. Doctor Guthrie of Oskaloosa, an uncle of deceased conducted the obsequies, assisted by Rev. R. A. Smith. The body was brought back again to Mr. Barton’s until Monday morning, owing to the fact the steel vault had not arrived. The interment was at 9 o’clock. The body was accompanied by the husband and little son, Mrs. William Phiffer, mother, and Sherman Phiffer, brother of deceased. Mrs. Lester was forty years of age and a good woman. Judge Harvey, an uncle of deceased, was here to attend the funeral. Mrs. Lester was a niece of the late millionaire Creede of Creede, Colorado, who willed her $10,000.
