Janis Campbell Cooper passed away March 13, 2013.

Jan grew up in Laurel, Miss., the daughter of Jimmy and Hilna Campbell. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1965 and from the University of South Mississippi in 1969. Upon graduation, Jan moved to Newton, Iowa, and was employed by Maytag Appliance Corporation for her entire professional career, retiring as an executive with the company in 2001.

Honoring Jan Cooper

Janis Campbell Cooper passed away on March 13, 2013. Jan grew up in Laurel, Mississippi, the daughter of Jimmy and Hilna Campbell. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1965 and from the University of South Mississippi in 1969. Upon graduation, Jan moved to Newton, Iowa and was employed by Maytag Appliance Corporation for her entire professional career, retiring as an executive with the company in 2001.

Upon retirement, she loved spending her winters on the gulf coast, enjoying golfing and spending time on the beach. She also treasured spending part of the year in Brentwood, Tennessee to be near her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son. Jan is survived by her husband, Bill Cooper of Newton, Iowa, her daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Bill Jackson of Brentwood, Tennessee and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Cate and Cooper Jackson. Jan will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend, as well as being a mentor to those who worked with her.

A celebration of Jan’s life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on May 11th at the Cardinal Hills Golf Club in Newton.
