Robert “Bob” Kain, 66, of Prairie City died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Obituary
Robert "Bob" Kain age 66 of Prairie City, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Hollis Arden and Dorothy Louise (McFadden) Kain, Bob was born on July 5, 1946 in Prairie City, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1964. On April 5, 1974, he was united in marriage to Sheryl Lourens. Bob served in the United States Army. He was a painter and a member of the Odd Fellows. Bob enjoyed antiquing or "Treasure Hunting", watching TV and playing cards with his friends. Bob's family meant everything to him, whether it was watching his boys' games or one of their friends' games. He was a father to all. His special joys were his grandchildren, especially Zachary's "Golden Arm" and Kyra's creative "projects."

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sheryl; three sons, Aaron (Kathy) Kain of Urbandale, Joseph Kain of Urbandale, and Mathew Kain of Denver, Colorado; two grandchildren, Zachary and Kyra Kain; his mother Dorothy Kain of Monroe and siblings, Arden(Barb) Kain of Urbandale, Marla Rigby and her spouse Marla Johnson of Prairie City and Karla (Jim) Martinache of Monroe.
