Donald “Don” W. Barcus, 71, 0f 4985 Legion Street, died of a heart attack, Friday, Nov. 19, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Newton Union Cemetery with Zoar Church in Newton, officiating.

Friends may call all day today at the Wallace family Funeral Home in Newton where family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials in Mr. Barcus’ name will be accepted.

The son of Virgil E. And Florence A. Clausen Barcus, he was born March 17, 1928, in Newton. He attended newton schools. He married Ella June Herwehe Aug, 29, 1948, in Newton.

A lifelong resident of Newton, he served in the United States Navy from 1947 to 1949. Mr. Barcus owned Barcus Body Shop (1963-71), Don’s Camper and Marine (1966-71) and Don’s Honda USA 1971-85) and was employed as a rural route carrier for the Newton daily News.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie Ann Waddell and Joni Dawn and Tim Van Sickle, all of Newton; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth Barcus of Newton and Betty and Marvin Milligan of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and two grandsons.
