Mrs. Nancy Coon died at her home in this city last evening about 11 o’clock after a long illness which had caused her a great deal of suffering and affected her mind so that she required the greatest of care upon the part of her family, care that was freely given.

Deceased was born in Lock Haven, Pa., May 22, 1839, and came to Newton when but 12 years of age, her home having been here ever since. She was married Nov. 12, 1861, to Charles Coon and to them were born six sons and one daughter all of whom are living same one son, William. The living sons are John, Thomas, Perry, Fred and Clyde and the daughter is Mrs. Bertha Decatur of Algona.

The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon in the M. E. Church at 2:30 o’clock, deceased having been a member of this church. ~ The Newton Daily Herald, Wednesday, March 4, 1903, Page 1, Column 5
