Hester A. Webb was born in Ross County, Ohio, Nov. 18, 1829, and died at her home in Prairie City, August 25, 1899. When seven years of age she moved with her parents to Indiana where she lived until eighteen years old when her family moved to Knox County, Ill.

She was united in marriage to Wm. M. Lotts October 26, 1851. To this union were born three children, all of whom are living and were at her bedside when she died.

She was converted at the age of 16 and united with the M. E. Church, in which she held her membership 13 years. She then united to the United Brethren Church, of which she remained a member until her death. Over 53 years sister Lotts has been a faithful member of the church militant until the Master said, “Its enough, come up higher and join the church triumphant in the home eternal.” Her home was always cheerful and all were met in the same cordial, kind manner. She was a woman of great faith and of good works. As the time of her departure drew near she said, “All is well with my soul; I am ready to go if it is the Lord’s will.” A short time before death relieved her of pain and suffering, she said, “Tell my friends to meet me in Heaven,” and then she fell asleep in Jesus.

This is indeed a great sorrow to her circle of acquaintances loved by all who knew her, but her labors of love are finished here; but her memory will live on and on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday at 2 p. m., services conducted by Rev. Martin. ~ The Newton Record, Thursday, August 31, 1899, Page 5, Column 3 – Prairie City

Hester A. Webb was born in Ross County, Ohio, November 18, 1829, and died at her home in Prairie City, August 25, 1899.

She moved with her parents to Warren County, Indiana, when she was seven years old and resided there eleven years.

They moved to Knox County, Illinois at that time.

She was married to Wm. M. Lotts, October 26, 1851. They had three children, all living.

She united with the M. E. Church in her sixteenth year. Thirteen years later she united with the United Brethren in Christ.

The funeral was held at the M. E. church.

Burial in the new cemetery.
