Phillip E. Brown, 69, of Newton; formerly of Gilman died on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at his home in Newton.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Those left to honor Phillip's memory are his wife of 48 years, Gloria of Newton; children, Trevor E. Brown (Misty Shaver) of Gilman, Todd A. (Val) Brown of Newton, and Teresa A. (Don) Harvey of Newton; his five granddaughters, Jocelyn Brown, Hayley Shaver, Stacie Brown, Ryleigh Harvey, and Charlene Brown; brothers & sisters, James D. Brown of Des Moines, Danny D. (Jackie) Brown of Marshalltown, Kathy Bovee of Marshalltown, Shirley McSwain of Altoona, and Beverly Towlerton of Boone; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Stacey Rae Brown; brother, Fred Kail.

Phillip worked as a hydraulic machinist for 30+ years when he retired in 2006 he was employed by Certified Power in Des Moines.

Phillip was a musician. He enjoyed playing his bass guitar and he also played the steel guitar. Over the years he had also enjoyed camping.
