Samuel Hise

The Newton (IA) Daily Herald, Thursday, February 19, 1903

Page 1, Column 3

Samuel, brother to Supervisor J. H. Hise and son of George Hise, near Colfax, was killed Tuesday in St. Louis by the upsetting of a heavy transfer wagon. His remains were brought home for interment and the funeral occurred at the home of his father this afternoon. This is the same man who was so terribly kicked by a mule team last summer on the J. B. Ross farm, where he was working. It was thought at that time that he could not possibly live but he made a phenomenal recovery. He was well known in the vicinity of the Jesse Long farm, south of town, having been employed by George Lyle for some time.
