Alice Ringgenberg, 93, of Newton died on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 19, 2013 at the funeral home
Interment: following the service January 19, 2013 at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery

Alice, the daughter of Clarence Eugene and Margaret Lillian (McCosh) Marshall, was born on June 23, 1919 in Grinnell. She grew up in rural Newburg before her family moved into Grinnell in 1927 and then to Newton in 1931. Alice graduated from Newton High School in 1937. Alice was united in marriage with Cecil Ringgenberg on November 21, 1941 in Marshalltown. Alice worked at Newton Manufacturing as an order processor for many years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as Treasurer for the American Legion Auxiliary for over 40 years. Alice dedicated her life to her family and she also enjoyed reading. Those left to honor Alice’s memory are her 2 sons, George Ringgenberg of Des Moines and David Ringgenberg of Newton; 2 daughters, Patricia Ringgenberg of Las Vegas, NV, and Marilyn (Rod) Frederiksen of Vancouver, WA; 4 grandsons, Scott and Sean Stewart, Mike Gilbert, and Wayne Meyer; her 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Helen) Marshall of Newton; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Ringgenberg; and a daughter, Helen Meyer.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home.
