Willard Davis "Bill" Tyler (1926 - 2013)

Bill Tyler passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. Celebration of life: 3 p.m. Saturday for friends and family at the Arlington Yacht Club, 6215 W. Arkansas Lane, Arlington. Bill was born April 10, 1926, in Newton, Iowa. He married June Lee French on June 10, 1945. He loved flying and sailing. Following his graduation with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Colorado, Bill began his flying career, teaching flying for American Flyers. Soon he was recruited to become the corporate pilot and came to serve as chief pilot for Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co., a position he held for over 30 years. Before and after his retirement in 1991, he enjoyed much success racing his sailboat out of Arlington Yacht Club, a club in which he was past commodore. Survivors: Wife of 67 years, June Tyler; daughter, Linda and husband, Sam Peterson; son, David and wife, Dorothy Tyler; grandchildren, Laura Peterson and Davis "Bill" Tyler; brother, Lyle and wife, Denise, of Milford, Mich.; and sisters-in-law, Joan of Newton, Iowa, and Pat Boudreaux and husband, Doyle, of Seabrook.
