Michael “Mike” Lee Lambert, 62, of Gilman, Iowa, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe following visitation ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.

Michael "Mike" Lee Lambert, 62, of Gilman, Iowa passed away at his home on Monday, January 7, 2013. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Mike, the son of Nelson and Lena Mae (Bailey) Lambert was born on December 23, 1950 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He attended Monroe High School graduating with the 1968 class. While in high school he was involved in sports and music. He enjoyed playing in his own band. After high school Mike completed courses at Technical Institute in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He moved back to Iowa and began working for Broderson Oil Company and continued to work there for many years. He later moved to Houston, Texas for a few years, working in the printing business for his uncle Arthur. Upon moving back to Gilman, Mike worked for Food-4-Less in Newton and Grinnell. Most recently he worked for Starnes T.V. and Appliance in Grinnell. Mike retired from Starnes in 2011 due to health concerns.

Mike loved the simple things in life like fishing, camping, bowling, fast pitch softball, cooking, listening to music, watching sports, watching racing and cheering on #24 and #88. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson, his grandparents Charles and Millie Bailey, and Alfred and Elizabeth Lambert, and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to honor his memory include: his mother, Lena Mae Lambert of Monroe; two brothers, Jim (Zita) Lambert of Kellogg, and Joe (Joann) Lambert of Knoxville; two sisters, Janice (Robert) Leinen of North English, and Linda (David) Donahue of Monroe; five nieces, Stacie, Desiree, Brandie, Kelsie (Brett), and Kayla; four nephews, David (Lisa), Jacob, Kyle, and Chris; several aunts, uncles, and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
