The relatives of James Barry, Jr., of Colfax, were shocked this morning when word came over that his death occurred last night from typhoid fever after but a few days illness. It is but a short time since he was over here. Last week he was in Des Moines attending the Odd Fellows show.
Jim, as he was familiarly called by every one, was about forty-eight years old and leaves a wife, a son aged twenty-one and a daughter aged eighteen. He was a fine specimen of physical manhood and it does not seem possible that he could be cut down in just a few days.
The arrangements have not yet been made for the funeral. His sister, Mrs. George Leary, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Dora Barry, went over to Colfax this morning. Undoubtedly the funeral will be in the Sacred Heart Church.

David Barry of Racine, Wis., came this morning to attend the funeral of his brother James. This will occur at nine o’clock tomorrow morning in Colfax, interment being in the Catholic Cemetery west of this city. Later reports seem to indicate that James did not die of Typhoid. He had received an injury to the stomach some time since and had not fully recovered from that.

It is a matter of great regret that two of the other brothers were not able to get here for the funeral. John, who lives in Cincinnati, had changed his residence and did not get the telegram in time to come. Mike had recently left Boone and gone to the far west making it impossible for him to get here in time for the funeral.
