Miss Katharine Newell died at two o’clock this morning at the home of her mother, Mrs. S. S. Newell, on East Marion Street, after a short illness with typhoid fever.

It seems hardly possible to her friends that she is gone, yet the sad fact must be met. She was a most lovable young lady, twenty-two years of age last December twenty-eighth. She was very popular in the social circle here and her friends were very warm ones. It is asserted of her that she was exceedingly kind, every ready to lend assistance where it was needed. She was born near Kellogg, but for several years she had made her home in this city with her sister, Mrs. Robt. Larimer. The family moved to town only about six months since.

The arrangements for funeral have not yet been made and will be governed somewhat by Mrs. Larimer’s condition. It will be remembered that Mrs. Larimer and her mother just returned Sunday morning from Colorado, where Mrs. Larimer has been herself suffering from the fever.

Smith and R. F. Chambers will conduct the services. Interment will be at the cemetery north of the city.
