Ira Elscott’s babe died Saturday and Charlie Scovill’s babe died early Sunday morning so we hear. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily Herald, Monday, September 2, 1902, Page 1, Column 5 - Murphy

The three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ellscott, who resides in Beuena Vista township, died last Saturday and was buried in the Dair Grove Holland church cemetery, Monday. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church of Killduff, conductted by Rev. Martin. The funeral was largely attended by freinds from far and near being present. ~ The Newton Journal, September 3, 1902.
