June Gawthorp, 92, of Newton, the daughter of Francis and Inez (Bennett) Auston, was born June 6, 1920, in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from North High School in Lansing.

June, a devoted mother and grandmother, made a decision to move from Lansing when her son was 9 years old, allowing him to be raised in Iowa, to be in a safer environment and to have a better quality of life for all.
