Franklin D. “Frank” Lindsay, 83, of Newton died on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League may be left at the church during the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

Frank, the son of Daniel and Melva Lindsay, was born on Jan. 7, 1929, in Livingston, Mont. He grew up in Mandan, N.D., where he graduated from high school. Frank then graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in engineering. Frank moved to Newton after graduating and worked for the Maytag Company for over 39 years where he started the test facility. He retired in 1989.

Frank was united in marriage with Sandra Lee VanGenderen on May 27, 1987 in Newton. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Maytag Management Club, and had served as the President of the Newton Community Theatre.

Those left to honor Frank’s memory are his wife, Sandy Lindsay of Newton; his children, Todd Lindsay, Jeff Lindsay and Kelly Kopecky; his seven grandchildren, Ben, Ryan, Andrew, Megan, Anna, John Wesley and Zach; one great-grandchild, Ayden; and his brother, Jack Lindsay. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Colleen Hughes; and a brother-in-law, Sid Hughes. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.
