Pioneer Resident Dies on Monday
Wilson Lister, 78, Had been Semi-Invalid Since 1930

Wilson Lister, 78, died at his home Monday morning at 9:15 o’clock. Funeral services will be held at the Morgan Funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 and interment will follow in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Mr. Lister, a pioneer resident of Newton, was born at Yorkshire, England January 19, 1860, and at the age of nine months, came with his parents and made his home in and around Newton. When yet a youth he joined with his father in the coal business in the present location of the Lister opera house, and later with his uncle, James Lister, was in the meat business. Since 1920, he had been retired and had been a semi-invalid since 1930 when he suffered a stroke.

On June 6, 1900, he was united in marriage to Maude Lee and to this union were born a son, James of Newton and a daughter Anna Elizabeth, who died in infancy.
Surviving relatives are his wife and son and a sister, Miss Caroline Lister of DesMoines.
