Mr. Philip H. Johnson, 80, of Calamus, Iowa, died Oct. 18, 2012, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara nee Lund Fisher; daughter Phyllis Johnson; son James (Vickie) Johnson; step-sons Scott (Jennie) Fisher and Mark (Shelly) Fisher; grandchildren Nicole and Amanda Johnson and Tabitha, Cameron and Jac Fisher; and a sister, Rachel Dixson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, Iowa, with a funeral at 11 a.m. Oct. 22, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. Burial will follow the funeral luncheon at Silent City Cemetery, Monroe, Iowa.

Philip H. Johnson

Mr. Philip H. Johnson, 80, of Calamus, Iowa, died Thursday morning, October 18, 2012, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.

Phil was born September 2, 1932, in Rock Point, Maryland, to Guy and Rose (Hammett) Johnson. He graduated from Rock Point High School in 1950. Phil was married to Sondra Norman in Topeka, Kansas in 1954 and was later united in marriage to Barbara Lund Fisher on April 26, 1986, at Edwardsville, Kansas. He served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1956, during the Korean War. Phil worked as a meat cutter for 39 years until retirement in 1996.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus, and the Calamus American Legion. Phil enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids, camping, traveling, Indy car and sprint car racing, concerts, auctions, and eating out.

In addition to his wife, Barb, Phil is survived by his daughter Phyllis Johnson of Topeka, Kansas; son, James (Vickie) Johnson of Olathe, Kansas; step-sons, Scott (Jennie) Fisher of Robins, Iowa, and Mark (Shelly) Fisher of Newton, Iowa; grandchildren, Nicole and Amanda Johnson and Tabitha, Cameron, and Jac Fisher and a sister, Rachel Dixson.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and William and two sisters, Lillian and Rebecca.

The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, Iowa. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 in Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus, with the Reverend Sarah Kretzmann officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the Church by the Magnus M. Peterson American Legion Post #466 of Calamus. Burial will follow the funeral luncheon at Silent City Cemetery, Monroe, Iowa.

Pallbearers will be Cameron and Jac Fisher, Bart and John Huetter, Billy Lund, Joel Leinen, Duane Levien, and Dirk Braet.
