Teddy E. “Ted” Patterson, 75, Newton died on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines.

As per Ted’s wishes he has been cremated and there will be no services at this time.

Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials in Ted’s name may be left at the funeral home. Memorials also may be mailed to the funeral home. Please add, Attn: Patterson Family on the envelope.

Survivors include his wife, Sue of Newton; children, Michael (Helene) Patterson Schuylerville, New York, Darci (Mike) Fairchild of Des Moines and Brian (Jean) Patterson of Cedar Creek, New Mexico; nine grandchildren and his brothers and sister, Harold (Ann) Patterson of Monroe, Georgia, Jim (Cuba) Patterson of Newton and Margaret (Jim) Cobbs of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. and Marjorie L. (Martin) Patterson; and son, Larry in 1995. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Ted was a graduate of Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Iowa. He served his country in the U. S. Coast Guard from September of 1956 – September of 1960.

Ted taught in the Culinary Arts Department at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Later he was the Food Service Coordinator at the Riverview Release Center in Newton. Ted always loved cooking, he also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan.
