Died, at the Rush Boarding Club on Twenty-fifty Street, of which he was steward, at 1 o’clock this morning, Mr. Wade Pomeroy, a student of Drake University. For three weeks Mr. Pomeroy had been very ill. The grippe was his first affliction and pneumonia followed that, with an affection of the heart. His father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Pomeroy, of Marshalltown, his sister and brothers, Miss Ora and Messrs. Loren and George Pomeroy, of Newton were with him for a number of days before his death, caring for him. His betrothed, Miss Maud Huntoon, of Stuart, who has been spending the winter with a married sister in Buffalo, New York, arrived in the city Tuesday morning. Her lover was then so near death that he barely recognized the young lady, who had been since the day of the kindergarten his sweetheart. Mr. Pomeroy was a young man of great promise, owing to the fact that he was possessed of an unconquerable ambition. Even during his illness he was not willing to give up, and the struggle he made for his life was a heroic one. He had been in the university only since last fall, but he had many friends among the student body. His home was in Newton and there the body will be taken for burial Thursday. He was a member of the First M. E. Church, but the funeral services will be conducted at the University Place Church of Christ, the hour being 1:30 Thursday afternoon.

The foregoing notice appeared in last evening’s Des Moines Daily Capital. It tells the sad story of the death of one of the most promising men we have ever known. Wade was but 19 years old but had won honors in several oratorical contests and had a great future before him.

The family home had been in Prairie City and the interment was made there. Miss Sadie Evans and Mr. and Mrs. George W. Weaver went to Des Moines Wednesday to be present at the final exercises.
