Jean E. McDonald, 81, of Newton died on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center under the care of Skiff Hospice.
As per Jean’s wishes she is being cremated and there will be private family services at a later date. Memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society or to Skiff Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
Those left to honor Jean’s memory are her two sons, Mike (Becky) Poole and Mark Lindholm; 7 grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; siblings, Milo (Jean) Rice of Oskaloosa, Laura Cook of Oskaloosa, Earl Rice of DeRidder, Louisiana, Orval (Marlou) Rice of Malcom, Ada Cormeny of Newton, Joyce Stier of Grinnell, and Dottie (Ron) Partelow of Newton; and her brother-in-law, Howard Sutton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Louise Rice; son, Lloyd Poole Jr. in infancy; brother, Bob Rice; sister, Merna Sutton; and maternal grandparents, Evard and Reba McDonald. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 23, 2012

Jean owned and operated her own beauty shop in Kellogg for many years.
Jean was a longtime resident of Newton.
