Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 01, 2012 at the UAW Hall, 1813 1st St. N. in Newton.
Visitation: The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service on Wednesday, February 01, 2012 at the UAW Hall with a lunch.

Those left to honor Larry's memory are his two sons, Larry Shaver, Jr. of Newton, and Danny Eilander of Davis, California; his seven daughters, Jennifer Shaver of Newton, Angela Shaver of Newton, Beverly Mott of Newton, Susan Burke of Lee Summit, Missouri, Melissa Mitchell of Des Moines, Brenda Eilander of Kellogg, and Gail Rodgers of Des Moines; twenty-one grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, his mother, Thedora “Teddy” Shaver of Newton; and brother, Terry Shaver of Newton. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph W. Shaver in 2004; and sister, Charlene Shunk.

Larry graduated from Newton High School in 1965. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1968-1970, during the Vietnam War.

Larry worked many years for the Maytag Company; he retired as Chief Plant II Union Representative.

Larry was a member of the UAW 997 Retirees Union, Moose Lodge No. 923, and the Kellogg American Legion Post 355. Larry loved being with his children, grandchildren, family, friends, Maytag Retirees, and he would drive veterans to their doctors appointments.
