Newton, Iowa

Visitation: The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
Vigil Service: 7 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
Those left to honor Frank's memory include his 2 daughters, Barb (Gordon) Schmidt of Baxter and Deb Irwin of Marshalltown; 5 grandchildren: Randy and Brandon Schmidt and Krystal, Brandi, and Brittany Irwin; 3 great-grandchildren: Kenneth, Elijah, and Julia; his brother, Fred (Vi) Metz; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Coleen (Bauer) Metz; his son, Mark Metz; a granddaughter, Michelle Irwin; and 3 brothers: Robert, William, and James Metz.

Frank was a lifelong resident of Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1959. He was married to Carol Waskow. He had worked for Party Time Pizza in Newton and then worked at Swift in Marshalltown for many years, retiring in 2007.

Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed going to flea markets, playing cards--especially pitch and UNO, fixing things, and going to Mc Donald's for coffee. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
